The Ritual of the Seven Hathors Set up your Temple in your usual manner, but with the Statue
of Hathor and a deck of Tarot cards on the Altar. Choose seven Temple members
to represent the Seven Hathors. They are: In ancient times, these seven would visit a baby just after it was born and by ‘speaking with one voice’ would divine the fate of the baby. Once Sacred Space has been cast in your usual manner, the parents of the newborn should stand in front of the altar, with the baby in the arms of the Mother. The members chosen to represent the seven Hathors come up to the parents, one at a time, present the parents with a gift for the babe, such as a crystal, bag of herbs, incense, etc., and then they draw one card from the tarot deck and hand it to the Father. When all seven have done this, the Father hands the seven tarot cards to the High Priest, who interprets them as a divination of the future ‘Fate’ of the baby. The High Priestess blesses the baby in the name of Hathor by drawing an ankh on its forehead with holy Oil, and the parents make an offering to the Goddess, and say a few words of thanks to the Goddess. The Ritual of the Seven Hathors is finished. Close your
circle in your normal manner and celebrate the birth of the child. |
