Morning Rededication Ritual
by Nydia; Spring 2005

This ritual is to be used by anyone wishing to dedicate or rededicate their souls to the Great God Ra.

Tool & Supply List

Balefire

Yellow or Orange Candle

Chalice

2 paper plates & silverware

Breakfast foods

Skillet

Blood of Ra Beverage
(recipe at bottom of ritual)

Small stew pot or cauldron

Preparations

This Ritual should be done as close to sunrise as possible. When you wake up, do not drink or eat anything until the ritual. Gather your tools and supplies and go to a place where you can watch the sunrise without anything being in your way. Make a small balefire and light it, while saying:

Great God Ra, come and join me
in a feast to break the fast of the day.

When the fire is going good, place the pot or cauldron in it and add the Blood of Ra juice to heat up. Place your skillet on a rack over the fire and begin to cook your breakfast. When it is done, your beverage should also be heated up. Fill the two plates and the chalice. Before you begin eating, Hold up the plate and say:

I thank you Great God Ra for this nourishment,
Which will sustain my body
As you have sustained my soul.

Hold up the chalice and say:

I thank you, Great God Ra for this,
the life of your Earth,
which sustains me to do your work.

Set one plate of food beside the balefire for the Great God and eat the other one. Drink half of the juice, and pour the rest out by the plate. When you are finished, kneel and face the sun, saying:

Behold, Great God of the Sun,
Look upon this, the humble body
Of your servant and Priestess.
Daughter of your hand,
Created to worship you
And to perform your work.
I thank you, Great God Ra
For your presence in my life.
And for the gifts you have given me.
My heart, my mind and my soul
belong to you, my Father, for eternity.

Bow until your forehead touches the earth, then light the candle from the balefire.

This Ritual is finished. Put out your fire and clean up any mess you have made. Do not snuff out the candle until you have returned to your home, or camping spot. This candle will bring the energies of Ra into your presence each time you light it.

Blood of Ra Beverage:

  • Tomato juice
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Black Pepper
  • Heat the tomato juice and season to taste. Generally, a large can of tomato juice and ¼ tsp of each seasoning works well.
Next time you make a big pot of beef or vegetable stew with tomato juice as the broth, add twice as much juice as you will need, and can the extra broth for ritual use.
  • This can be easily made in advance and canned for use in rituals. Don’t know how to can? It’s very easy for broths and juices. Just pour the hot liquid into clean, hot, mason jars and tighten the lid and ring. Place the jar upside down on a towel to cool. That’s it!
