Ceremony of Isis Everyone should dress in their ritual best and be prepared for a formal, serious ritual. Each person should bring a small, clean jar with a lid, a small pouch of dried herbs or powdered gemstones, and a bottle of essential oil that would correspond with the herb or gemstone they have chosen.
Have all the tools in place. Suspend the cauldron from a tripod over the balefire and fill it ½ full of olive oil. Cast Sacred Space using the longer, formal version. If you are using Isis as a Cardinal Point Goddess, replace her with another Goddess for this ritual. The statue of Isis should be in the center of your altar, with an offering candle of an appropriate color in front of it. Light the Balefire once you have created Sacred Space. HP says: “We gather here this evening to celebrate the Mysteries of the Great Goddess Isis. This Sacred Space which we have created together is of no earthly plane. Within this Sacred Circle time has no meaning, and the great work of Magic can be accomplished.” HPS says: “Let us join together our gifts within the cauldron of the
Goddess, Each member of the coven comes forward and tosses their dried herbs or powdered gemstones into the cauldron, while explaining their choice in words such as: “I bring garlic to grant our Coven protection.” Or “I bring Oak to give our Coven strength.” They pour half of the essential oil into the cauldron, stir the contents three times in a clockwise direction with their wand (if they have one, if not, let them use the Coven Altar wand), and hand the rest of the bottle to the HPS to include in the Coven Supplies, saying similar words to explain their choice: “I bring the essence of Sage to give our Coven Wisdom.” When all offerings have been added, some members may ask to have a private meeting with the HP, HPS and/or Elders. This meeting should take place privately in the meditation area. The meetings should consist of the member giving a brief explanation of the issue and the HP, HPS or Elder doing a quick divination and advising the member of the results, and then a short prayer for success. Once the potion in the cauldron is warm (do not let it boil), it can be removed from the fire and used to fill the bottles. This potion can be used at any time to bring the spirit of the Coven to the individual, and as a Coven Altar/anointing oil. Make sure to strain the oil through cheesecloth before pouring it into the bottles. Store any leftover potion in the mason jar and keep with altar supplies. Other coven activities could include: Close your circle in your formal manner and enjoy a feast. |
