The Celebration of the Birthdays of the Gods

These days are not a part of the Egyptian Calendar and are considered to be ‘Days which are not days and time that is not time’. The Order in which the Birthdays are celebrated is as follows:

Date

God or Goddess Birthday

December 27

Osiris

December 28

Horus the Elder

December 29

Set

December 30

Isis

December 31

Nyphthys

Many people prefer to celebrate these birthdays all at one time. It can be very difficult to schedule 5 days out of a time of year that non pagan family members expect you to spend with them.

To begin with, have coven members to portray the five Gods and Goddesses, they will speak the lines for the God/Goddess during the Ritual. Gather in your Temple. Sacred Space does not have to be created, but you may wish to light a balefire.

High Priestess says:
We come this evening
Of a day that is not in the Year
To celebrate the births
Of Osiris, Horus the Elder,
Set, Isis, and Nephthys.
These five were born
of the great Goddess of the sky, Nut
And the God of our Earth, Geb.

High Priest says:
The Great God Ra decreed that Nut
could not bear children on any day of the year.
Thoth took pity on the Goddess and
Beat the Goddess of the Moon at senet,
Winning 1/72 of her light. He used
This light to create five days
that were not part of the Calendar.
On these days, Nut gave birth to Gods.

Osiris says:
I am Osiris, first born of my Mother.
To worship me is to honor life,
And the life which springs from death.

Horus the Elder says:
I am Horus the Elder.
I rule that which is hidden and unknown.
To worship me is to honor the mysteries of life.

Set says:
I am Set, Great God of Thunder
And Lord of the red Land.
To worship me is to honor
Order which springs from Chaos.

Isis says:
I am Isis, Great Wife of Osiris
Mistress of magic and the Words of Power
To worship me is to honor
The power and strength
which comes through learning.

Nephthys says:
I am Nephthys, Goddess of Darkness and Mystery
All that is unknown is mine.
To worship me is to honor
That which remains hidden.

High Priest says:
We celebrate your birth with feasting
and the company of good friends.

Everyone should move to the place where a pot luck feast has been set up, and enjoy. Make sure to place a plate of food on your offering table for the Gods.
